Ice skating in the Upper Engadine – exercise, nature, and fresh mountain air

Where can you go ice skating in the Upper Engadine?

During the winter months, the Upper Engadine offers a particularly attractive supporting program for seminar and conference guests: ice skating amid a dreamlike high-alpine backdrop. Numerous ice rinks are carefully prepared, and skates are available for hire in many places – ideal for actively unwinding and recharging your batteries during a break from an intensive day of business.

Ice skating on frozen lakes – unique and expansive

Ice skating on the frozen lakes of the Upper Engadin is a special experience. The famous Lake St. Moritz transforms into a vast ice rink in winter. Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana also invite you to enjoy a few laps on the ice – always accompanied by impressive mountain panoramas. Please note that the lakes must be open to pedestrians.

The Madulain–Zuoz ice trail: active travel through the Engadin

Another highlight is the ice trail from Madulain to Zuoz. This route combines sporting activity with enjoyment of nature and is ideal for groups. Important to know: Skates must be rented in advance from one of the sports shops in the region.

Nature experience at Lej da Staz

From mid-December to mid-January, depending on the weather, Lej da Staz (Lake Staz) is also accessible and a circular route has been prepared for ice skaters. The route to Lake Staz is already part of the experience. It takes around 40 minutes to walk there from St. Moritz or, alternatively, via Pontresina or Celerina through an idyllic winter forest. Once there, guests will find not only a peaceful ice rink but also a small natural paradise. On the way, you can observe numerous birds in the sunshine, and they may even come closer out of curiosity. With a little luck, you can feed them by hand. Skates can be rented directly on site, which makes the trip particularly easy.

Ice skating right in town

In addition to the lakes, there are numerous ice rinks in the villages of the Upper Engadine. These are easily accessible and perfect for short, active breaks or relaxed evening programs as part of seminars and conferences.

Ice skating in the Upper Engadin combines exercise, nature, and relaxation in an ideal way. As a supporting program, it offers seminar and conference guests a sporting balance to everyday business life – refreshing, inspiring, and unforgettable.
